I have been lifting weights for over 13 years now. My first “why” was me. I was chasing goals for me. Now my “why” is my kids. I have three girls and two that play high level softball. Those two are now in the gym. Not because they have to but because they are chasing their dreams and I feel like I inspired them.
I played softball and basketball growing up and earned a softball scholarship at a Juco to play in college. I graduated with a certificate in cosmetology. I got married at 20 and had my first girl at 21. I wanted to be a young mom so I would have a built in best friend. I was now a full time stay at home mom. A couple years later I had my second daughter. This is when I was diagnosed with post pardon depression. Until you have this you really do not get it. This is when I knew I had to do something for me.

Wouldn't it be awesome if these were wearable?
I started running. I ran A LOT. Until one day I picked up a weight and I never ever looked back. It was my psych ward.
My me time.
My only alone time.
Me against me.
This has been an amazing experience for me. My husband and I are pushing each other through it. However, I have a dream that has always been in the back of my mind, but I just kept pushing it to the side. I know I can do it but just have not made the extra time for myself. I want to compete. I want to get on stage. I feel like 2025 is going to be my year that I can finally say…..
I did that!

Two of my daughters play high level travel softball and one of them has recently been getting contacted by D1 coaches. They both are now extremely active in the gym. I feel so grateful they watched me and followed. Kids are sponges. They know if you want something you work for it.
